How Torino will celebrate Leonardo’s 500 years

The purpose of the City of Torino, in cooperation with Regione Piemonte, Musei Reali and Fondazione Torino Musei, is remembering the brilliance of Leonardo Da Vinci, 500 years from his passing.

The celebrations dedicated to Leonardo represent a great opportunity for Torino to add value and promote all over the world the historical heritage of the Renaissance: from art to literature, from music to science and architecture and, more broadly, to the art of living.

The City of Torino, together with other Institutions, is working on a rich agenda which from April to December will greet concerts, conferences, conventions, exhibitions, meetings, installations, naturalistic itineraries, workshops, shows and talks, concerning Leonardo’s masterpieces displayed at Musei Reali.

On April 15th, in Sale Palatine of Galleria Sabauda, the “Leonardo Da Vinci. Drawing the future” exibition will be inaugurated. It regards a special exibition of over fifty masterpieces, dated from around 1480 and 1515, different from subject and inspiration that can witness the artist activity from his youth to full maturity. Among these, stands out a core of thirteen autographed drawings, such as the “Portrait of an old man”, considered as Leonardo’s self-portrait, and the “Code about birds flighy”. There will be displaied other pieces of masters, from the florentine Pollaiolo to the lombards Bramante and Boltraffio, to Michelangelo and Raffaello.

Turin will change its appearance to celebrate the 5th centennial of Leonardo. A coordinated image will be used for external communication: standards, window decalls, posters, flyers, merchandising and hospitality.
The International Book Fair in May will host the stand of the Municipality devoted to Leonardo. The Italian Pavillion at the Unesco Creative City Meeting for Design of Fabriano will pay tribute to him, too.
Social media of Turin, Piedmont, Musei Reali, Abbonamento Musei, Turismo Torino and Provincia and DMO will dedicate wide space to the promotion and communication of the events in the agenda.
